Hey guys!
So this past weekend was the HUM awards! For those of you that don’t know, they are the equivalent of the Oscars for the Pakistani Film and Television industry. This was the first time Pakistan was hosting its awards internationally and how perfect is it that they ended up choosing Canada.
I am such a huge fan of Pakistani Television, so once the Awards were announced, I knew I had to go!
When I arrived at First Ontario Centre, in Hamilton, the environment was electric! The fans were genuinely so excited to see all the celebrities arrive and you could tell the stars were equally taken a back by all the love they were receiving. I was lucky enough to get a chance to speak to the actors. Whether it was Hamza Ali Abbasi, Yumna Zaidi, Zahid Ahmed, Hareem Farooq, Bilal Khan, Hamayun Saeed, Marwa Hocane, Kubra Khan, Shaz Khan or Mahira Khan - they all shared the same sentiment. They were all very excited to be able to represent Pakistan on an international platform, meet all their fans, and treat them to an amazing show. They were all also very impressed with how kind, loving and respectful Canadians are.
The show itself was everything a fan could ask for - the stage was stunning, it was packed with amazing performances, lots of glitz and glamour, and all of the biggest stars. Although what made the evening perfect was the immense pride every individual in that room felt. Pride of Pakistan, pride of the talent in the country, pride of the art being celebrated, pride of how far we have come, and pride in where we are headed. And we the fans were so excited to show off our home to not just the stars, but all of Pakistan.
The evening was spectacular and I put together a small video highlighting just some of my favourite memories from the event. (I didn't add any details about the winners because I don't want to spoil the actual show for you).
